Mom, Our Star by Jeanne Prue, 18" x 18" plus hanging loopThis project was made as a gift for my Dad.It's a tribute to my Mom who died October 16, 2001. I made it to replace a project I had given Mom & Dad years ago so it had to be of a particular style, size, and color. The photographs and text were printed using an inkjet printer onto white fabric treated with Bubble Jet Set 2000. The 9 stars are symbolic of all the members of my family; the two larger stars are for Mom & Dad, the smaller, wacky stars are representing all seven of us kids.

The saying was also printed on treated fabric, but this time it was a print. The saying reads,
Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.
-- Eskimo legend

The wall hanging is hand quilted, including the hanging loop. The stars in the main part of the quilt are traditionally pieced but the tiny stars in the hanging loop are foundation paper pieced.
This little quilt won 1st place in the Wall Hanging category at Quiltfest 2002 in Newport, Vermont.
