Quilting. Thanks so much for sharing! January, 2003 -
Terry Taylor has been nice enough to share four of her cheery quilts with us all. Terry is a relatively new quilter but already a very talented one. Here's what she says about her quilting - I love daisies, ever since the late sixties when I carried them at my wedding. After collecting many daisy fabrics, I took the standard "Grandmother's Fan" pattern and adapted it for my daisies and color scheme. Most of the fabrics are new, but several are vintage. It is about 48" x 60" and has a patchwork daisy back, which I did to use up all that daisy fabric I had left over. Crazy Daizies

Mom's Quilt

I enjoy quilting very much--been doing it for about three years at the urging of my friend. I have always done some form of art or crafts: painting, drawing, jewelry making, sewing and now quilting. I love having lots of fabric in a full range of colors (what quilter doesn't?) and I especially enjoy putting together the colors.
Thanks so much for sharing, Terry!

More daisies, this time, adapting the Stargazey Quilt pattern "Crazy Daizy," I believe it is called. I changed the colors to this blue, yellow, orange and red scheme and adapted the layout some for my version. It's about 50" x 70".
Well, my second favorite growing thing is leaves and I had just taken a machine applique class. I wanted the rich dark tones of autumn and worked with this low contrast layout, but it works, I think. It's about 36" x 48".
This was one of my first formal quilts, made for my mother, who taught me to sew 45 years ago. She and my Dad love ethnic patterns, so I chose this one to do in black, golds and greens. I wasn't titling or labling my quilts yet, so I'll just call it Mom's Quilt. It's about 48" square.
