February, 2004 - Sheelah Goforth, a quilter from Marysville, California, wanted to share her latest project, the Wee Flower Patch Quilt, the 2003 Block of the month. She tells about this lovely project:
Sheelah also is a very speedy quilter, much to her own surprise. She said,"My goodness I guess I finished it sooner than I thought, picture is dated 1-3-2004." It's a real beauty, Sheelah, and a blue ribbon may be in your future! Thank you for sharing it with us all!
I started this when the first block came out in January 2003 and continued each month as they were released. The Wee Flower Garden was a perfect pattern for me to do this past year and it was done entirely with stash fabrics. I have been making quilts for members of our families, but this one is for us. My hubby kept asking who it was for and each time when I told him us, he smiled. I have received many complements on the top since it is finished. I did the appliqué with the button hole stitch around each piece and will be hand quilting the project. I have shared it with the Senior Center for show & tell, but not our local quilt guild since it is entered in our quilt show in March 2004. I needed something for a surprise at the show.If you also would like to make your own Wee Flower Patch Quilt, it is available as a pattern from Jeanne Rae Crafts.
