Grandmother's Flower Garden by Frances Bouffard

Grandmother's Flower Garden by Frances Bouffard

March, 2001 - My friend Frances Bouffard from Newport Center, Vermont, is one of my best quilting buddies. This Grandmother's Flower Garden is just the first of many of her quilts that will be featured in this Guest Gallery.

Even Frances herself admits that a quilt like this takes a little insanity - the hexagons are unbelievably tiny! This little wall quilt used 1,407 hexagons. As Frances puts it, "The fools are not all dead yet!" It's all hand pieced using the English paper piecing method with freezer paper. The design came from Miniature Quilts Magazine No. 29, 1997.

Teensy tiny hexagons!

For even more insanity, she is now starting a full size quilt with the same design. She must have the patience of a saint! For the hexagon template, click here.
