October 5 - Peak foliage is still a few days from now but these photos will give you the flavor of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom in autumn.
* Why is it called the Northeast Kingdom? *
The name is credited to Senator George Aiken who remarked in 1949, "You know, this is such beautiful country up here, it ought to be called the Northeast Kingdom." It is the most rural part of the state.
